My Overnight Business Trip

My Overnight Business Trip

A couple of weeks ago I took a short trip to New York. Really short; Like over-night short. Myself and the other shop owner friends of mine decided to head to the Big Apple to do some shopping for our stores. My friend Jen from Feather and Bloom had made this trip many times for her shop, and knew just where to go. My other friend Greg had been to the city before, so I guess this was new and big to me alone.

Just going someplace new, even for just overnight was exciting to me, and I got to do it with friends who were doing business to get the best deals for their customers.

If there was traffic going to New York I certainly didn't notice. The time in the car on the way there was spent on shop talk, and the three of us talking  on about what works best for our shops. Its great to have friends that do what you do, because they understand the small business world that you are in. Talking shop with my hubby is a whole lot different. I wont bore you with all the small details like having to go from one parking garage to another and getting to our hotel only to find its closed due to their pipes freezing.

All those little things somehow ended up working out in the end. What I will tell you is that I loved NY. I loved everything about it. New York is a very busy place, and is always in a hurry; traffic here is like I've never seen before! A three minute walk is a thirty minute drive! No kidding! So we parked and walked.. A lot! In and out of wholesale shops we went looking for the best products with the best bargains for our customers. But in NY you need to walk fast, New Yorkers are such fast walkers! And the streets! Every street had scaffolding up; it felt like work was going on everywhere. And the trash! Bags on top of bags on top of bags of trash. I just have never seen so much trash. Later I was told a strike is going on in regards to that. Well, I guess that explains it. But the people! New York truly is a melting pot. There were people from all over the world. All living together in this great city its perfect! We even had dinner in a Korean/Mexican restaurant!! I've never seen a mix like that, and I loved it!

Heading home was as pleasant as our trip over there, only with some small stops on the way. I know that a trip to New York doesn't sound like a big deal to many. But to me every trip is an adventure, because even if I've been there before it will always be different. And I cant wait for my next adventure!
